PIRSA is proud to sponsor the 2018 Cellar Door Fest
As of 1 July 2016, Adelaide South Australia officially joined the exclusive group of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network – a network made up of the 9 internationally renowned wine regions of San Francisco / Napa Valley (USA), Bordeaux (France), Bilbao / Rioja (Spain), Verona (Italy), Mainz / Rheinhessen (Germany), Mendoza (Argentina), Porto (Portugal) and Valparaiso / Casablanca Valley (Chile).
Wine is an integral part of life in South Australia. We produce 80 per cent of Australia’s premium wine from some of the oldest vines in the world.
It is with immense pride that we now sit alongside these regions as a Great Wine Capital of the World. Joining this prestigious network puts a global spotlight not only on our wines but also raises attention to our premium local food and unique tourism experiences.
Being part of the network puts Adelaide on the map internationally and is helping South Australia increase its profile and identity as a producer of premium food and wine and provider of exceptional wine tourism experiences. The membership lifts the bar and strengthens the identity of Adelaide and South Australia in relation to wine. What makes the membership particularly important for our State, is the way it brings together not only wine, but our food and tourism sectors in a truly collaborative unified way.
Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA), the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA), Brand South Australia and the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) are the founding partners of Adelaide’s membership.
